CEO: Mel Glass, Ph.D., LCSW, MFT

Awakenings at Serenity Hill was founded by Dr. Mel Glass, based on his decades of experience in treating alcohol/drug dependence and psychiatric disorders. Dr. Glass has a Doctorate on Psychology with a specialization in Counseling Psychology and a Masters Degree in Social Work with a specialization in Case Management. He is dually licensed as a Psychotherapist in California as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Marriage and Family Therapist. As a Psychotherapist, he is licensed to diagnose and treat mental disorder in the state of California.

Over his 36 years of full time, professional experience, Dr. Glass has maintained a private practice for 23 years, specialized in Dual Diagnosis treating both addictions and coexisting psychiatric conditions, worked in residential treatment facilities for 10 years, worked as a Deputy Probation Officer for Los Angeles County for 11 years, and has 10 years of hospital experience. Dr. Glass is well known and respected for his integrity and commitment to delivering the highest quality of treatment available.

Physician’s Assistant: Michael Roham, MS, PA

Michael graduated from Midwestern University in Arizona with a degree as a Physician’s Assistant. He has been dealing specifically with addictions and detoxification since the year 2000 and was one of the first to administer Suboxone. He has a Masters Degree in Psychopharmacology from the Neuroscience Department and the University of California at San Diego where he trained under the direct supervision of Steven Stahl, MD. Michael has a specialty in dealing with Dual Diagnosis, successfully detoxing people from alcohol and/or drug dependence while simultaneously treating psychiatric conditions.

Physician: Vitaliy Shaulov, MD

Dr. Shaulov is a Psychiatrist specializing in holistic medicine wherein he uses a combination of both Eastern and Western methods of treating patients including acupuncture and mind and body approaches.

Psychologist: Loren Green, Ph.D., QME

Dr. Green has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and is a licensed psychologist and a Qualified Medical Evaluator in the state of California. He has a wide range of experience with individual, group and family therapy in outpatient and inpatient settings. Dr. Green has been assessing and treating individuals with mental health problems and chemical dependency issues for the past 20 years, and currently provides psychological services throughout the Inland Empire and its surrounding areas.


Program Manager: Ben Brewer

Ben has a Degree/Certification in Alcohol and Drug Studies and Dual Diagnosis. He is also certified as an Alcoholism and Drug Addictions Recovery Specialist (CAS), an Intervention Specialist, and Anger Management Professional. He is experienced in Case Management in Family Preservation Drug Court, CPS Family Law and Prop 36 Probation and Parole Service Network (PSN). Ben is a Life Coach, a Hospitals and Institutions panel volunteer speaker and has over 14 years of recovery.


Intake Coordinator, Educator: Brenda Glass, M.A., Gifted and Talented Education

Brenda Glass is a Certificated Teacher in the State of California with 25 years of teaching experience. She holds a Masters Degree in Special Education for the Gifted and Talented. Brenda will facilitate seminars at Serenity Hill which explore The Goddess Connection, the source of female empowerment and inner strength. These seminars are very special and unique to our program. They are designed to Awaken the strong spirit that is deep within each of us, to Connect with Her and to Stand side by side with Her throughout our lives. Brenda will also facilitate the Creative Arts component of the program.
 

Certified Horsemanship Instructor: Denise Gless

Denise has loved and been involved with horses her entire life. She designed and teaches her “Introduction to Horsemanship” curriculum to equine enthusiasts in order to share her equine knowledge and experience with others. The program consists of learning skills related to riding, horse care, handling, grooming, anatomy, tack, round pen and health. Denise encourages people to be caring, loving and to treat each horse with dignity and respect. The goal is teaching horsemanship skills from the ground up to start people off on the right “hoof”. Opportunities for the more experienced are also available.
